About Your Mother… a memoir exploration May 8th

$39.00

The relationship with our mother is the most complex relationship in our lives. We love her, we forgive her and find a way to make peace with what was. Our mothers are the thick root of memory that lives inside us and inform our lives throughout, and yet over the years working with writers, I know that each mother-daughter and mother-son relationship is unlike any other.  In this two-hour workshop, with a guest author to be announced, we will explore the most complex, beautiful and at times disappointing relationship  –  one that continues to shape us, even after our mothers are gone.

“Mother, what you did not dare in your life you dare in mine.”–Diane Wakoski

Mother, I see all of you -the sexual woman, the grandmother, the hungry lion.”–Christel Jennsen

Through carefully chosen excerpts out of memoirs and poetry, we will be inspired to create the character details that make up our mothers, and create compelling stories, then read them back in small groups.

The workshop is the Saturday day before Mother’s Day, May 9th – and will offer writers an opportunity to explore the all of our mothers with unique writing exercises designed to create content and first drafts for poetry, memoir, or a letter to tuck inside a card for Mother’s Day.

One Guest author to be announced
