My Story:

For eighteen years, and before the crest of social media, I taught major US brand managers how to reach segmented, ethnic communities throughout the United States.

I developed events, trusted environments and story messages. I brought in trusted Brand Ambassadors to spread messages for my clients, shifting buying behaviors dramatically. My company won internal marketing awards at Procter & Gamble and General Mills, breaking sale records.

We tapped into communities with heart, connection, love and story. I realize I was one of the first to employ Story Marketing – now an essential ingredient to all business success. In the noisy world of marketing and social media, businesses must meet their potential customers with, relevance, excitement and a heart connection.

As a structural editor for the last six years, I have learned the art of assisting authors and marketers to structure compelling stories to engage customers. I teach marketers and business owners how to write and share their own stories in relation to the business. It is my belief nobody can craft this story for you – and nobody knows your customers like you do. In Part One of this series, you will work in an Entrepreneurial Think Tank with dynamic business owners.

The objective of this course is to begin to frame the story of you, your business and your customers, so those stories start to intersect and prepare you for a viral Story Marketing Program and creating Insider Information for your customers.

As the marketplace has gotten bigger, messages have become fragmented.

Story brings warmth and connection in a way traditional advertising does not.

In this series we will:

  • Write the inspirational story of you and your business and discover a way to frame that story so it is engaging and pulls customers into your personal and professional life journey. Use this story on your website, when talking with potential clients, and later develop it for social media.
  • Interview a customer and write one customer story to discover ways their stories can intersect with the story of your product or service.
  • Create Insider Information for your customers: Build something they will come back to over and over so they feel they are part of your business community and consider you the source of important information in your field or work.
  • Learn basics of storytelling techniques: show to engage your reader and customers in intriguing stories they will share with others. When stories are shared and you will receive high “engagement”. Part two of this course will focus exclusively on social media.
