WRITE FOR PEACE – Sunday, April 24th
$39.00
Date: April 24th, 11:00 a.m. PDT / 2 p.m. EST (8 a.m. Hawaii time)
Length of Class: 2 1/2 hours
Welcome to our online Event, Write for Peace. We look forward to inspiring you to write a blessing and a story for Peace in the World with Laura Lentz and her educators, ready to help you create a story through inspiration of poets and authors who have written about war and peace, and a series of short writing prompts and images leading to a personal story. Every writer will have the option to read their story in small breakout rooms with trained educators who can handle all the emotions swirling from writing and reading our stories out loud.
A select number of blessings will be translated and offered to the refugees as a message of hope from our writers around the world.
While waiting for the event, I offer you this poem by Wendell Berry:
“The Peace of Wild Things
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.”
