Father Stories: an online writing event
When: June 15th, Saturday
Time: 10:30 a.m. PST to 12:30 p.m. PST
Cost: $26.
In honor of our father’s and Father’s Day, and the sometimes beautiful, sometimes terrifying, sometimes nurturing and sometimes absentee relationships that brought us into this world, we will write our Father Stories in an online event with writers.
For years I wrote about my father, over and over the same stories, and now I look at my father as a complex character, through a lens that has replaced my old lens. My story of that man has evolved and continues to evolve.
If you have a father story burning to find the page – if you want to write a letter to your father for Father’s Day (whether he is alive or dead), come explore in an online writing event June 15th, Saturday.
The event wil 2 to 2 1/2 hours long and this is what occurs:
Writers will:
- listen to excerpts out of short excerpts out of carefully chosen literature and poetry.
2. receive a Two minute writing warmup before writing.
3. Receive a “sentence wall” of outstanding sentence to add to your story to inspire deeper writing.
4. Three writers will be chosen to read their stories out loud – all other writers will post their stories in a Private FB with all the other writers joining us, to receive feedback over the next two weeks from Laura Lentz and other writers joining.
About Laura
Laura Lentz specializes in helping writers access personal stories through deeply themed curriculum and heart opening writing prompts to create content for works in progress. She is an intuitive structural editor and creative coach. Her students become part of an intimate writing community that continues to connect and share work together daily. She will be teaching Grief Stories with Debbie Augenthaler at the The Kauai Writers Conference.
