Heroism, Healing & Hope: A Writing Event for Caregivers

$0.00

Every day Caregivers are putting themselves on the front lines and often risking their lives, whether they are going to a hospital, a nursing home, a clinic, or caring for someone in their own homes.  This often soul splitting and heart opening journey is filled with every human emotion from fear and grief to love and hope. And now these caregiving experiences have the added layers and challenges of Covid-19.  This 2-hour writing workshop on October 3rd  is an invitation to explore the stories you feel are important to tell during this challenging time in history.

Grief therapists and writers are donating their time for 100 caregivers to create their stories, read their stories back to each other in small groups and post them in a safe place with other caregivers.

Laura Lentz, author of STORYquest, the Writer, the Hero, the Journey is hosting a free online writing event in collaboration with psychotherapist and author Debbie Augenthaler (You are Not Alone) and Psychologist and Creative Arts Therapist Dr. Jan Seward,

About the Writing Workshop

Writing is the most healing act in the world, and caregivers who have a safe place to turn their experiences into story in a safe and open environment will have the unique opportunity of having those stories created and heard on October 3rd.

Date:  Saturday, October 3rd 10:30 a.m. PST / 1:30 p.m. EST

Workshop timing:  2 hours

Caring for each other will save the world, and telling our stories will save the world. Robert Frost said, “the only way out is through”.  Story is how we understand each other’s challenges, pain, hope and differences. It’s how we reach across the large divide in the world today and understand each other.

By building community to write during these times, we will all get through this together.

In this free writing workshop, caregivers will have the following experience:

  1. Receive literary inspiration addressing the experience of caregivers – through poetry and essays diving into the caregiver experience.
  2. Receive writing prompts and write for 13-minutes
  3. Receive loving support during the workshop
  4. Break into a group with nine other caregivers. The story you create in the workshop will be heard in a safe supportive environment with a grief counsellor and / or trained writing group facilitator, volunteering their time so we can give back and care for the caregivers.
  5. A private, safe Facebook group for caregivers to share their stories after the class with other caregivers to further the reach of the healing stories.

To attend this class, you must have the following:

  1. A desire to tell your story – you do not need prior writing experience
  2. An ability to join a Zoom meeting via your computer
  3. Sign up and Show up the day of class
  4. The time to attend a two hour class

Reserve Your Spot now. This workshop is FREE, there are no hidden costs.  It’s our way of saying thank you, we care, and we want to know and understand your experiences during this challenging time.
