A HEART UNDONE: WRITE A LOVE LETTER OR POEM FOR V-DAY
Writing a love letter or a love poem to anyone can seem like a daunting task, because the heart must come undone a little bit to access the deepest feelings. When writing about love, we reconnect with moments and memory, and use poetic exercises from odes, metaphors, and sonnets. It’s all easier than it seems if you approach the task with inspiration from great love poems and letters, then practice on pre writing exercises before we write.
The heart may be the most mysterious organ in the body, and we will access that mysterious organ to write a love letter or poem to our children, our parents, a partner or a friend. An unbound heart can write a love letter to anyone.
During this class you will:
- Hear inspiration from great love poems and love letters.
- Practice poetic techniques in pre-writing exercises
- Write a love letter or love poem to a child, friend, partner or lover.
- Go into small breakout rooms and read your love letter back to other writers, and listen to their love letter.
