Laura Lentz is an author, writer, developmental editor and master writing teacher, teaching themed creative writing workshops for over a decade to artists all over the world in intimate, live online groups and on Kauai’s north shore. Her book, Writing at Red Lights – Inspiration for Writers – will be released in November 2018 and her second book, I Remember Tomorrow, a book of essays and companion writing prompts, will publish in January 2019.
Laura helps writers expand their body of work by offering challenging and thought-provoking exercises inspired by poetry, science and excerpts from literature. Groups of new and experienced writers and authors from all over the world gather in intimate online groups for live, engaging workshops that are announced privately through her mailing list at www.writingatredlights.com.
Laura works directly with publishers, authors and agents who often make guest appearances in her workshops on behalf of her students. She teaches workshops at retreat centers on Kauai and in Los Angeles, and is publishing StoryQuest, Make Your Story a Hero’s Journey, a workbook for writers to guide them through the twelve stages of the Hero’s Journey through writing prompts and literary examples. The workbook will be available at The Kauai Writers Conference, and Laura will be teaching from this workbook at the conference. Writers will be encouraged and prompted to write about what happens when we refuse to answer the call to our passion. (Hint: disaster!)
She is the founder of the bi-annual Speak, Kauai, sold out spoken word performances on Hawaii that showcase writers from all over the world, live streamed to thousands. Twice a year Laura teaches Sex on the Page – a writing workshop teaching writers to bring sensuality and sexuality into their stories.
